He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Holtby and Grace Cummings Holtby; and his brother Thomas Holtby. He is survived by: his wife Leigh Colligan Holtby; his children, Adam, Kyra Holtby of Schaghticoke and Danel Bailiff (Dan) of Hemstreet Park; his grandchildren, Jace and Kooper Bailiff; and his siblings, Donna Tranka (Bob) of Ballston Spa and Martin Holtby (Connie) of South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
