He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Benson and Margaret Winkler Benson; his wife Alice; his son Larry; and his siblings, Morris, Charles, Alfred, Walter Benson, Margaret Johnston and Eleanor Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Lou (Charles DuBois) of Woodstock, Mark (Anita Benson) of Washington and Aaron (Ranae Benson) of Florida; and his siblings, Madeline Key and John. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
