He was predeceased by: his parent Alfred Brooks; his wife Emily; and his sister Dorothy Oliveri. He is survived by: his parent Dorothy Speirs Brooks; his children, Karen Brooks of California and Alfred Brooks, Jr. (Sue) of West Hurley; his sisters, Barbara Sweeney of Saugerties, Dolores Voerg (Bill) of Saugerties, Carolyn Young of Saugerties and Alice Tarzy (Barry) of New Jersey; his stepchildren, Bonnie Tienken (Cliff), William (Lisa), John (Tina) and Robert VanVoorhis; his grandchildren, Christopher, Alicyn, Matthew, Nicole VanVoorhis, Patrick Mitchell, Joshua and Daniel Tienken; and his siblings-in-law, Sal Oliveri and Judy Tompkins. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
