It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph J. Ponessa Sr. of Saratoga Springs, New York, born in Witherbee, New York, who passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Joseph had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Joseph may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Elizabeth. He is survived by: his wife Betty; and his children, Virginia Ponessa of Saratoga Springs, NY, Rosanne Sammler (David) of Greenfield Center, NY, Joseph Ponessa, Jr. (Melissa Paquet) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Barbara Schallehn (William) of Porter Corners, NY and John Ponessa (Kathy) of Greenfield Center, NY. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Wm J Burke & Sons (628 N Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, September 18th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Clements Church (231 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 18th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the St. Peter's Cemetery (150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866).
