He was predeceased by: his parents, Florian Safner and Magdalen Safner (Weber); and his brother Peter Safner (Jacqueline). He is survived by: his wife Trish Safner (Keefe); his children, Ryan (Elana) and Victoria; his grandson Miles Safner; and his siblings, Monica Collette (Bill), Florian Safner (Dana Sasse) and Christopher Stauffer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
