He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritz Opferbeck and Mildred Rice Opferbeck; his son Steven Lee Opferbeck; his siblings, Daniel Opferbeck (late Donna), Gerald Opferbeck (late Barbara) and Edna Edmonds (late Jerry); and his stepgrandson Todd Briggs.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Franze; his sons, Randy Opferbeck (Debbie) of Allegany, NY and Kevin Opferbeck (Cindy) of Ashville, NY; his grandchildren, Derek Opferbeck, Chris Ryberg (Kristi), Nathan Opferbeck (Sally) and Josh Opferbeck (Rebecca); his stepgrandchildren, Jonna Briggs, David Briggs (Kimberly) and Jared Briggs (Kristi); his great grandchildren, Makennah Ryberg, Malani Ryberg, Maxwell Opferfeck, Liam Rankin Jr., Blake Opferbeck and AvaLynn Opferbeck; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Ryan Michael (Shelly), Courtney James (Casey), EmmaLea Michael, Rilyn Briggs, Henry Briggs, Lillian Briggs, Kelan Haynes, Ryland Haynes, Brodan Briggs, Nytan Briggs, Jastyn Briggs, Thieryn Briggs, Flynn Michael, Hendrix Michael, Olivia James and Calliope Michael; and his brother Richard Opferbeck (Kate) of Salamanca, NY.
