He is survived by: his daughter Roberta Redeye (Douglas) of Salamanca, NY; his grandchildren, Jaclyn Hall of Akwesane, CA, Tewentenhawitha Lee Cooper of Vancouver, Wakeenniosta Rosie Cooper of Vancouver, British Columbia, Lacey Seneca and Zoey Redeye; and his siblings, Janet Maybee of Salamanca, NY, Peggy John, Tina Maybee, Ronald Bowen of Steamburg, NY, Michael "Billy" Maybee, Dennis Maybee of Henderson, NV, Jeffrey Maybee and Bruce Maybee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“I met Merwin in the late 1950's as a young deer hunter. Merwin assisted me crossing the river to hunt one of the islands with my dad Chuck Spritz, brother Chuck and cousin Mick. We weren't successful that day, but my memories of that hunt are still in my mind. My sympathies to Merwin's family and friends. Larry Spritz”
