He was predeceased by: his parent Peter Draty; and his brother-in-law Ivan Vik. He is survived by: his parent Georgianna Cannon Draty; his sister Betsy Vik of Ashville; his nephew Keith Olson (Melissa); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Dylan, Aspen, Penelope and Craig Olson; and his son Matthew of Jamestown.

David's wishes were fulfilled through his donation to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program.
