He was predeceased by: his father John Oakes; his daughter Vicki Sue Hess; his granddaughter Christie Sue Trummer; and his brothers, John Oakes and Paul Oakes.
He is survived by: his children, Melanie Trummer (Todd Reese) of Little Valley, NY and Steven Oakes (Sheri Ambuske) of Salamanca, NY; and his grandsons, Ryan Trummer of Salamanca, NY and Cody Hebdon.
