“I recently learned of Mike's passing. We were boyhood friends in the 1960s. I lived down the street on St. Marks Avenue. One of my fond memories was how he would show up on his snowmobile in my backyard and we would ride for hours in the farmyards which were wide open at that time. I went on to college and became a professor of Classics at Notre Dame. So we lost touch. But I do want to express my sympathy for someone who played a part in my life and accomplished so much for his country. David La”
