He was predeceased by: his mother Lena Matis, Sr. (Sindici); his wife Maxine Laster; his father Daniel Matis, Sr.; his sister Sharon Zimmer (Richard); and his brother-in-law Melvin Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Dina Brundage (Jason) of St. Johnsville, Paul Matis of New York City and Jordan Matis (Sarah) of Baldwinsville; his grandchildren, Addie, Jack, Will Brundage and Claire Matis; and his siblings, Timothy Matis of St. Johnsville and Pauline Smith of St. Johnsville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
