He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard S. Nier and Audrey M. Reome; his siblings, Dennis Guyette and Diana Nier; his daughters-in-law, Lily Nier and Jennifer Nier; and his grandson Lucas Van Schaick.
He is survived by: his wife Diane M. Nier; his children, Lyn Wasiyo (Anthony) of Melrose, NY, Ronald Nier Jr. of Adams Center, Donald Nier (Kim McConnell) of Adams, Dawn Nier of Hounsfield, Bethany Cantwell (Tim) of Clayton and Joshua Nier (Janet Stockman) of Hounsfield; his stepmother Dorean Nier of Watertown; and his siblings, Wayne Nier, Gary Nier of Williamstown, NY, Jane Hess (David) of Hounsfield, Howard Nier Jr. (Susan), Darlene Nier of LaFargeville and Michael Nier of Watertown. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
