She was predeceased by: her parents, Madge Kessler Wood and Dr. Alpheus Hartley Wood. She is survived by: her husband Olaf Kongshaug; her sons, Nils Hartley Kongshaug of Brooklyn, Lars Wood Kongshaug (Caren Andrus Kongshaug) of Bellingham and Erik Craig Kongshaug (Heidi Elizabeth Tinsman) of San Pedro; her grandchildren, Sophia Ruth Kongshaug of Portland, Oregon and Arlo Ishmael Tinsman-Kongshaug; and her cousins, Hartley Campbell Fitts and Lynn Campbell Pugh.
Once she had seen her sons safely off to college, Martha returned to work full time as a writer and editor at the national headquarters of the March of Dimes Foundation in White Plains, NY, retiring in the mid '90s.
