He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

“May Robert rest in peace. He will join his Vietnam brothers in the hereafter. Robert was not a founder of S.O.G. Those initials stood for a unit called the Studies and Observation Group in Vietnam. The unit was initially commanded by Colonel Russell and included Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine personnel.”
