He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmalz and Ethel Schmalz; his wife Ellie Schmalz; and his son Stephen Schmalz. He is survived by: his children, Edward (Pallie Schmalz), Brian (Cheri Schmalz), Nancy (Bill Nicholl), Paul Schmalz and Lisa (Gary Blackerby); and his daughter-in-law Lisa Schmalz. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 19th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Strong-Burns and Sprock Funeral Home (7751 Merrick Rd, Rome, NY 13440). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (400 N George St, Rome, NY 13440).
