She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlton Norris and Gertrude Norris; her husband Emmett Carey; and her siblings, Patricia Hamilton, Richard and Lowell Norris. She is also survived by her loving relatives and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm or U.S Coast Guard-Auxiliary in her memory. The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in Shirley Joan Carey 's name.
