He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis and Marion; and his siblings, Gordon (Nancy) and Mary Frances Moehring. He is survived by: his wife Linda Lee Yagatich Vilsack; and his son Michael Stiggall. He is also survived by his 5 children; 6 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
