She was predeceased by: her parents, George Chapman and Anna Chapman of Crawfordville; her husband Everett Elroy Dawson Sr; her children, Everett Elroy Dawson Jr. and Marie Louise Dawson-Edwards; her sisters, Marie Turnbough, Marion McWhorter and Thelma Scott; and her grandchildren, Jason Lamar Dixon and Shovonia Dawson.

She is survived by: her children, Major Thomas George Dawson and Melody Elmo of Fort Washington, MD; her children-in-law, Armond Edwards of Poughkeepsie, NY and Arlene Dawson of Memphis; her grandchildren, Jessica Carol Dawson of Grovetown, GA, Brian Thomas Dawson (Brittany Catherine Dawson) of Attleboro, MA, Jeremiah Alexander Dawson of Havelock, NC, Robert Brian Dixon of Manassas, Jackie Dixon DePorres (Jaime Geraldo DePorres) of Smyrna, Sherita Anderson of Memphis, TN, Candis Dawson-Taylor (Reginald Keith Taylor) of Memphis, TN and John Babsa (Rabia Qyayyum-Babsa) of Stafford; and her sisters, Hattie L Perry of Jamaica, Ruth Russell of Atlanta, GA and Francis Slack Ellington of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
