He was predeceased by : his parents, Mickey Rosenthal and Betty Rosenthal; and his sister Anita Amlong. He is survived by : his son Joseph "Buzz" Merchant; his former life partner Mary Merchant Palmateer (Rhinebeck); and his grandchildren, Rhiannon, Journi Merchant and Shay Merchant. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
