He was predeceased by: his parent Gustav Ecklund; his sister Dorothy Peterson; his sons, Wallace Ecklund and Glenn Ecklund; and also Ruth.
He is survived by: his parent Karen Ecklund (Johnson); his spouse Ruth Post; his son Gary Ecklund of Newport, NC; and his grandchildren, Lauren Ecklund, Lynette Ecklund, Leah Kane, Gabriel Ecklund, Shane Ecklund and Brittney Ecklund. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren; along with extended family and friends.
