He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard "Barney" and Grace St. Claire McKimm; his foster mother Laura "Ma" Hogan; and his brothers, Robert, Lloyd, William, Stanley and Earl McKimm.
He is survived by: his wife Ernestine Dow; his children-in-law, Brenda Brain (late Richard) of Glendale, AZ and Milton Marvin (late Shirley) of Randolph; his grandchildren, Richard M. Brain Jr. (Lisa), Aimee Doherty (Scott), Dale Shields, Dana Donais, Nicole Luangphon, Sheila Frizzell (Ray), Sharon Stillman (Roy) and Leah Marvin; his stepchildren, Richard Brain and Shirley Brain Marvin; and his grandson Darren Donais.
