He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip C. Brassel and Elizabeth Brassel (Cronin) of North Creek; and his brothers, Philip C. Brassel Jr. and Dr. Roger W. Brassel. He is survived by: his wife Marjorie L. Brassel of Queensbury; his children, Martha (Chris Anderson) of Vail and Michael (Jessica) of Troy; his grandchildren, Meghan of Saratoga Springs, Ella Daley (Meghan), Molly, Logan, Quinn Brassel and Storm Anderson; and his sisters, Anne Brassel of North Creek and Mary Brassel Zack (Richard) of Forty Fort, PA.
