She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband George; her children, Georgie, Danny, Lauren Owens (Tom) and Gary Scott Woods; her grandchildren, James Michael, Daniel John Jr., Christopher Michael Woods, Aurora Catherine, Ruby Eve and Genevieve Grace Owens; her siblings, Lawrence Appell (Marion) and Catherine Appell; and her parents, Kay and Larry. She was also cherished by nieces and nephews, many cousins, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to support its lifesaving work, or the work of her longtime pulmonologist who she trusted above all, Dr. Marc Feinstein, to find a cure for pulmonary diseases like COPD that she lived with.
