He was predeceased by: his father Robert W. Gritz. He is survived by: his mother Elayne Gritz; his wife Maranda Zocchi; his pets, Lover, Actor and HoneyBunnyAss; his children, Delina Elizabeth and Robert Joseph Gritz Jr.; his siblings, Jeffrey (Linda) and Karen Gritz; his niece Megan; his nephews, Robert, Vincent and Christian; his brother-in-law Val Zocchi (Kathleen Zocchi); his aunt Loretta; and his uncle Larry. He is also survived by many cousins, and thousands of friends.
