We are sad to announce that on September 1, 2019, at the age of 90, Helen Gordon (Putnam Valley, New York) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Catherine Jakes and Charles Jakes; and her sister Joan Lyons. She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Seiler (Alan), Kathleen Canal (Eugene) and Diane Orabona (Christopher); her grandchildren, Matthew Seiler (Bonnie), Stephanie Seiler, Brian Seiler (Chelsea), Eugene Canal (Jordan), Sean Canal, Megan Canal, Jennifer Orabona and Briana Orabona; her great grandchildren, Madison, Connor Seiler and Sloane Canal; and her nieces, Mary Frances Lyons (Jim Hanson), Gillian Hanson, Carol Lyons, Sharon Lyons (Donald Plows), Olivia and Geneva Lyons-Plows.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rosary Hill, 600 Linda Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10594.

“Here is a photo of Aunt Helen & Mom taken in the 1950's. It sits in my office & reminds me of what strong women look like. Raised in the 30's, 40's & 50's they paved the way for us. Aunt Helen was amazing. A single working mom in a time when both were frowned upon, she worked full time and raised my 3 cousins Debbie, Kathy & Diane. She always had a smile for us and loved to talk about the old days in the Bronx. She seemed to be eternal and will be greatly missed by all of us.”
