He was predeceased by: his son Jeffrey. He is survived by: his wife Helene; and his children, Lynn, Steven (Karen), Kathy and Laurie (Morgan). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Richard Rubin Scholars Mentoring Program, which provides guidance and financial support for students from underserved communities.
