“Oof. Nancy was my teacher for a year of ninth grade English. Her "welcome to Oakwood" was our "welcome to adulthood." We read The Sound and the Fury, Bridge to Terabithia, Flowers for Algernon, The Woman in the Dunes. The following year she taught a poetry class. A good friend and I sat with Juniors and Seniors, who were like adults. There were moments during that class when beautiful ideas arrived out of nowhere and we were all left appreciating the chance to grow up. Thank you, Nancy!!!!”
