He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Nelson and Edna Nelson (Becker); his sister Marie Swenson; his nephew Paul Swenson; and his great-nephews, Craig F. Nelson and Bryan Valley.
He is survived by: his wife Lynn Valley Nelson of Poughkeepsie; and his children, Scott Nelson (Penny) of Madisonville, TN, Karla Nelson of Poughkeepsie, NY, Carol Savelli of Albany, NY, Beth Heady (Valley) of Rhinebeck, NY and Bruce Valley (Sophia) of Holly Springs, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home (371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery South Ave (342 South Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).
