He was predeceased by: his daughters, Linda Yates and Rita Lavaway; his siblings, Eugene Yates and Deldee Yates; and his parents, James Yates and Lillian Fuhr Yates.
He is survived by: his children, David (Cathy Yates) of Schuylerville and Lyda Yates of Missouri; his stepchildren, Gary (Carol Palmer) of Parishville, Sherry Palmer (Rick Gary) of Parishville, Lana (Vernon Hobbs) of Mercedes and Laurie (Marcel Poirier) of Cortland; his former wife Ruth Wilson; and also, Tammy, Keala and Ethan. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Potsdam Humane Society.
