Laurel Thompson Obituary

We are sad to announce that on January 27, 2024, at the age of 64, Laurel Thompson (Potsdam, New York), born in Ogdensburg, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her father Dr. Paul E. Hafer; and her brothers, Edward Hafer (Ted) and Paul Hafer (PJ). She is survived by: her mother Genevieve Hafer (Henry); her husband James V. Thompson Jr.; and her siblings, Marcy (Hafer) Ramsay (Will Thomas) and Matthew Hafer (Mary Kay). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

As a longtime blood donor, reaching the donation milestone of 5.5 gallons herself (something she was quite proud of!) Laurie would encourage others to give the gift of life first and monetary donations second. Donations can also be used to support the Indian Creek Nature Center (PO Box 286, Canton, NY 13617) that her father helped to create.
