She was predeceased by: her parents, Vivian Merrifield and John J. Elliott; and her brother John J. Elliott, Jr.. She is survived by: her former spouse Salem; her husband William; her sons, John, Bill and David; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Kelsey; and also, William Poorman and Syracuse. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Trinity Episcopal Church of Fayetteville, NY, the Everson Museum of Art and the Erie Canal Museum.
