Russell Michael Niosi Obituary
Mr. Russell Michael Niosi of Port Jervis, NY died Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 69.
He was born August 29, 1953 in Queens, NY the son of the late Philip Niosi and the late Anna May Brown Niosi.
Russell married Janet O'Brien 42 years ago on October 12, 1979 in Port Jervis, NY.
He was the owner and operator of Russell's Candy Bar in Port Jervis and Advanced Floor Covering on Front Street in Port Jervis. Russell was also the Restaurant Manager at the Monticello Raceway and the past Head Chef of Delany's Irish Restaurant and Pub in the Town of Greenville, NY. The last 10 years of his career Russ was the owner and operator of Town Diner in Barryville, NY from which he retired.
He was a past president of the Tri-State Youth Soccer League and the Port Jervis Summer Soccer League. He was a past member and coach of the Port Jervis Little League and a past member of the Port Jervis Elk's Lodge, BPOE #645.
A family statement read: Russell was a good man who had a good life for his first 62 years. The last seven years were riddled with health problems. He loved me, his sons and his diner in Barryville. After closing that, he was never the same. We lived on memories –-rafting trips on the Delaware,-camping trips when our boys were young,-going to car shows with Philip's '69 AMX,-fishing trips with our sons to Pulaski,-all of our adventurous trips in the RV,-birthdays and holidays spent with family and friends,-summer vacations with friends and weeks at our campground,-relaxing afternoons just sitting on our front porch,-winter days being snowed-in with no where that we had to be.
So many simple pleasures that build a lifetime of memories. We were fortunate to have those together.
Surviving are: His wife, Janet Niosi at home.
His three sons: Philip Niosi and his wife Audrey of Sparrow Bush, NY; Alexander Niosi and wife Madison of Matamoras, PA and Nicholas Niosi and his wife Brienne of Huguenot, NY.
3 sisters: Carrie Niosi of Sparrow Bush, NY; Mary Millspaugh and her husband Jim of Port Jervis, NY and Patricia Niosi and her companion Patrick Cox of Sparrow Bush, NY.
5 Grandchildren: Andrew, Evelyn, Wesley, Ava & Miles, Also several nieces and nephews.
Brother-in-law: Ronan O'Brien & his wife Margaret of Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Sister-in-law: Carol O'Brien wife of predeceased brother, William of Yonkers, NY.
2 Predeceased Brothers: John P. O'Brien & William O'Brien, There will be no visitation and all funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family.
