He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard and Lillian Hammond (Lybolt); his wife Johnnie Mae Rhodes of Fayetteville; and his siblings, Alma Brereton, Robert, Maynard Jr., Fred and George.
He is survived by: his daughter Debra Raye Thompson; and his granddaughter Meagan Bridget Thompson of New York City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Army Emergency Relief program at the United States Military Academy, West Point.
