He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hanson and Frances Hanson (Donahue); his sister Francine Hanson; and his brother-in-law Joseph Sgandurra. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Hanson of Port Ewen; his sons, William S. Hanson (Joanna Driscoll Hanson) of Saugerties and Christopher B. Hanson (Merle Becker) of Newburgh; his granddaughters, Chloe Hanson and Hendrix Hanson; his siblings, Christine Sgandurra of Pine Bush, Bruce Hanson (Sandy) of Fort Myers, FL. and Julie Hanson Deschenes; his nephews, Joey, Jimmy Sgandurra and Jimmy Hanson; and his children, Hosptial, StJude and Shriners Hospitals.
