He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Downes and Stella Downes (Yankelitis); his brothers, Donald and Thomas; and his stepgrandson Justin.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Marie; his children, Joseph (Norma), Leonard and Susan (Jeff); his grandchildren, Jessica, Sean and Sarah; his stepgrandson Cody; and his great grandchild Arianna. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
