He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dorothy May Cogan and Oliver Rathbun; his brother John; his wife Erma Wilson Cogan; his children, Christopher William Cogan, Carla Cogan of Fairfax, CA, Kevin Cogan (Lisa) of Plattsburgh, NY., Michael Young (Melanie), Cindy Young, Kimberly Zivitski (Glenn) of Burlington, VT and Shane Young of Plattsburgh, NY.; his grandchildren, Patrick Zivitski, Alexandra Hamilton (Jason), Kaylee Zivitski (John), Catherine Potter (Corey) and Ciara Rose Cogan; his great grandchildren, Keagan O'Connell, Logan Hamilton, Piper Hamilton, Mia Potter and Miles Potter; and also, William H., Jessie Cogan and Carol Harris Cogan.
His commitment to community service extended to the American Cancer Society, where he was a director and speaker, and the Elks Lodge #621, the Knights of Columbus Council #255, and the Kiwanis Club.
