He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Burgess and Sylvia Burgess (Rock); and his brother Edward Burgess. He is survived by: his wife Anne Burgess of Plattsburgh; his son Anthony Burgess (Julia) of Chesapeake; his grandchildren, Peyton, Hunter Burgess, Ella and Gabe Levinson; his daughter Samantha Burgess of Orlando; his brothers, Jeffrey Burgess (Peggy) of Morrisonville, Andrew Burgess (Susan) of Cadyville and Michael Burgess of Cadyville; and his sister-in-law Sarah Burgess of Saranac. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
