He was predeceased by: his son Gene Jr.; his siblings, Charles, Bernard, Lawrence "Peter", Gerald and Elizabeth "Betty"; and his sisters-in-law, Geraldine, Doris and Muriel.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his children, Nicole Devins, Chery Salsbury and Kory Guynup; his grandsons, Jacob, Justin, Duane, Cody and Dakota; his brothers, Donald, Bill, Jimmy (Wanda) and John (Theresa); and his sister-in-law Nancy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Donations in Gene's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
