He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Zimmers and Elizabeth Zimmers (Black); and his siblings, Donna, Mary, Peggy and Jim Zimmers.
He is survived by: his wife Diana Zimmers of Plattsburgh; and his children, Donald Zimmers III (Gary), Suzanna Blair (David) of Tennessee and Faith Allen Zimmers of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
