He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence Thorn and Gladys Thorn (Terhune); his wife H. Marie Coutant; his sons, David (Jan), John (Susan) and Brian (Diane); his nephew Gary Thorn (Christine); and his niece Cindy. He was also cherished by his six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
