He was predeceased by: his parents, Roswell Simmons Sr. and Eunice Raycraft Simmons; and his brother Roswell Simmons. He is survived by: his children, Michael Simmons of Pine Plains, NY, Mark Simmons of Willsboro, NY and Melissa Simmons of Hillsdale, NY.; his brothers, Steven of Pine Plains, NY, Curtis of Gallatin, NY and Davis of Salisbury, NC; and his cousin Fred Simoncini of Gallatin, NY.. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. or to any Humane Society.

“I was saddened to hear of john's passing. We were the same age and spent a lot of time together as kids through school and after. Riding bikes, swimming in the shekomeko creek, skating on piesters pond, boy scouts. John had total gas in his blood while i only had half but it kept us together with cars, using ros's things when he wasn't around, the 58 chev with the 409, my 56 ford, his road runner, double dating. It goes on. Rest in peace john my condolences! Hutch”
