He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Richard Gushlaw and Edward Lacey; and his stepsister Jessica Rocque. He is survived by: his parents, Richard "Rick" Gushlaw and Lisa Lacey; his wife Katie McCasland; his sons, Maverick and Jaxx; his brother Kris Gushlaw; his stepbrother Thomas Rocque (Jennifer); his grandmothers, Beverly Lacey and Sylvia Gushlaw; his parents-in-law, Jeff and Rebecca McCasland; and his nieces and nephews, Avelyn, Elena, Anna, Ellie, Brennan, Becka, Rogan and Nicholas. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to NYSP Signal 30.
