He was predeceased by: his mother Caroline Sears (Lucia); and his father-in-law Earl Southmayd. He is survived by: his father Thomas Sears; his wife Sonya Sears (Southmayd); his daughters, Megan Sears and Erin Sears; his sisters, Tammy Catlin and Carlene Heipel; and his mother-in-law Carole Southmayd.

Donations in his memory may be made to a scholarship fund to be established at Peru Central School. Checks can be made payable to Sonya Sears.
