She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard VanValkenburg and Berneida VanValkenburg Sr. (Waite); her husband Douglas L. Slocum; her sons, Michael P. Slocum and Scott D. Slocum; and her brothers, Howard VanValkenburg Jr. and Ronald Pete VanValkenburg.

She is survived by: her children, Suzette M. Barvian (Todd) of Attica, Sara Jo Yencer (Robert) of Mt. Morris, Steven M. Slocum (Trista) of Leicester and Brian Blackmore (Julie) of Perry; her grandchildren, Gregory Slocum, Karissa Slocum-Sardina, Nicole Grover (Michael), Brock Minnick (Rachel), Laura Gallinger (Nelson), Lexee Jo Barvian, Cody Slocum (Kristen), Cassidy Slocum (Brad), Nicki Baker (Spencer), Carley Jo Yencer, Owen Yencer, Brianna Collins (Michael), Bailey Blackmore and Brice Blackmore; and her siblings, Mary Jane Celeste of Buffalo, Linda Ridall of Rochester, Leoti Cudney (Donald) of Byron, Wendy Moran (Brian) of Nunda, Wayne John (Nancy) of Perry and Ted VanValkenburg of Perry. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
