He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard Sands and Eleanor Sands; and his sister Barbara Beyea. He is survived by: his sons, Roger James Sands (Anita) and Carl J. Sands (Connie); his brother Calvin Sands (Patricia); his grandchildren, Ashley Gibson, Meghan Fry (Matthew) and Cassie Sands; his close friend Lyn Johnson; and his former wife Betty Sands. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
