He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucy Sweeney and Joseph Sweeney; and his siblings, Marie Sweeney, Walter and Robert Sweeney.

He is survived by: his children, Gregory (Deborah), Daniel (Terry), Philip (Jennifer) and Maureen Porter (David); and his grandchildren, Patrick, Benjamin, Jenna, Emily, Alex, Nicholas, Timothy, Kate, Matthew, Brian, Megan and Aden.
