He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo J. Schmitt and Magdalen Schmitt. He is survived by: his wife Beatrice; his children, Thomas Schmitt (Carol) and Barbara Thomas (John DeRosa); his grandchildren, Cole, Vaughn, Reed Schmitt and Eric Thomas (Lindsay); his great grandchild Hayden Thomas; and his sisters, Dorothy Schulz and Rita Snyder (Richard). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and several in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to St. Ambrose Church.
