He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Desmond and Bertha Desmond (Nagle); his siblings, John, Joseph and Catherine; and his sister-in-law Vincenza Desmond.

He is survived by: his wife Anne; his daughters, Anne (Jason Cary) of Peekskill and Mary Appleyard (Gregory) of Cortlandt Manor; and his grandchildren, Sarah Appleyard of Queens and Benjamin Appleyard of Cortlandt Manor. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
