He was predeceased by: his parents, George Burhans and Adrianna Burhans; his wife Nancy Burhans; and his daughter Holly Barnes. He is survived by: his children, Pamela Paugh (Robert) and Matthew Burhans (Mary Pat); his son-in-law Scott Barnes; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Barnes, Rebecca Paugh, Josh Paugh, Robert Paugh Jr. and Christopher Paugh.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
