He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Francis Gardner and Cora Gardner (Shoullette); his wife Margaret; his children, Donna Liljegren (Scott) of Wheaton, IL, Diane Gardner of Escondido, CA, David Gardner (Shannon) of Auburn, NY and Dan Gardner of Chapel Hill, NC; and his sister Joan. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made in Leo's name to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830.
